Inspired by the textures of life...
Welcome, I'm Caroline
I'm a mixed media artist inspired by the remarkable stories found in ordinary life. Every painting begins with a simple moment - a glance, a memory, a bird on a garden fence - and gradually evolves through layers of paint, handmade collage papers and texture into something that invites reflection.
Art has a wonderful way of helping us notice what we might otherwise pass by. I hope you'll find something here that resonates with you, whether you're discovering my work for the first time or returning to see what's new.
My latest solo exhibition, Ordinary Miracles, opens this August at The Corsham Gallery, and I'd love you to come along.
Behind the Layers
My paintings evolve through a slow process of layering. Handmade collage papers, translucent acrylic glazes and expressive marks are built up over time, creating richly textured surfaces that reveal themselves gradually.
Working intuitively, I respond to each stage as it unfolds, allowing fragments of imagery to appear, disappear and re-emerge. It is this balance between control and chance that I find so compelling, creating paintings where realism is gently disrupted and hidden narratives invite a closer look.
